Most moon prints use the same flat graphic for every date. Ours start from real photographs and real data.
A real NASA photograph
Every moon is made from NASA Lunar Reconnaissance Orbiter imagery. Every crater you see is real, not a drawn or cartoon moon.
Lit exactly as it was
Moon phase, percentage lit, moonrise, moonset and distance from Earth are calculated from NASA/JPL ephemeris data for your date and place.
Right for your hemisphere
In Sydney or Cape Town the moon looks different from London. Your print shows it the way it looked from where you were.
Fine art paper look
Elegant script names, an observatory ring with degree ticks and soft paper texture, so it looks like a print from a gallery, not a screen.

You order through our Etsy shop, so checkout, payment and delivery tracking are all handled by Etsy.
Personalise on Etsy
Choose your size and colour, then add the names, date, place and the words you would like on the print.
Free proof within 24 hours
We send you a proof in Etsy Messages. Spelling and text changes are free, so you see your print before it is made.
Download or receive it
Digital files are added to your Etsy order once you approve the proof. Printed posters are made and posted to you.

A small studio that cares about the details
When & Where is a husband-and-wife print studio in London. One of us spent years at a canvas and personalised printing company and still loves paper, ink and getting the details right. The other looks after every order and every message personally.
We make keepsakes from real data: the moon made from NASA lunar imagery, the real stars over your town, and real street maps of the places that matter to you. Thank you for letting us be part of your story.

Good to know
Do I need the exact time?
No. The moon phase is right for the whole day. Adding the time makes the percentage lit, moonrise and moonset exact. Without a time we use 9pm local time.
What if my date is close to a new moon?
The print will show a very thin crescent or a dark moon, because that is what the sky really held. We point this out on your proof, so there are no surprises.
How do I receive a digital download?
After you approve your proof, the files are uploaded to your Etsy order and Etsy emails you a download link. Nothing physical is posted with a digital order.
Is a frame included?
No, only the print. The digital download covers every standard frame size, so you can print it to fit a frame you already have.
Can I order from outside the UK?
Digital downloads work anywhere in the world. For printed posters, the delivery options and times for your country are shown at checkout on Etsy.
Something is wrong with my order. What should I do?
